UNFPA Algeria team and the Algerian Red Crescent have jointly distributed PPE personal protective equipment to cover the needs of the gynecology-obstetric department personne, and particularly the maternity home, as well as women who come for services in this most affected wilaya where COVID-19 had started to spread in the country.
This donation is part of the UNFPA Algeria agreement signed with the Algerian Red Crescent on the 31st May, to strengthen the health response to COVID-19 and support maternity services. Prior to the distribution of equipment, Ms. Sakani, UNFPA Head of Office, discussed with the director of the hospital the continuity of reproductive health and family planning services during COVID-19 crisis.
Finally, a statement was delivered to the Algerian TV and radio by Ms. Sakani on this occasion in support to health personnel.
